On the 32 Thoughts podcast, insider Jeff Marek broke the news of four big-time CHL trades that are brewing.
The four prospects are among the best in the CHL and all were selected highly in their respective drafts.
Conor Geekie, the 11th overall pick from the 2022 draft, is currently on a tear scoring 20 goals and 49 points through 26 WHL games. He is second on the Wenatchee Wild in points but is producing at a much better pace than the first-place prospect.
Matt Savoie, the 9th overall pick from the 2022 draft, also plays with Geekie at Wenatchee. He has been sidelined for a lot of the year with injury but has gotten into 11 WHL games scoring 11 goals and 24 points which is going for first in point production.
Nate Danielson, the 9th overall pick from the 2023 draft, is the captain of the Brandon Wheat Kings and is having an okay year. With 25 points in 24 games, he is not the offensive dynamo Geekie and Savoie are, but he brings a much more well-balanced game. He is seen as one of the most NHL-ready prospects in all of hockey.
Finally, Owen Beck is the 33rd overall pick from the 2022 draft. He was one pick off from being a first-rounder but plays like one already having NHL experience and being the only returnee on Team Canada for the WJC. He has 30 points through 25 games and is primed to make an impact with his new team.
All four of these players are currently playing with Team Canada at the WJC but will return to new franchises for the latter half of their season.
