These things are usually planned with months of prep-time, but today something happened that forced the NHL to act quickly.

This is going to call an issue with multiple U.S. based teams, which is the focal point of the meeting:
BREAKING: The Diamond Sports subsidiary of Sinclair Broadcast Group has skipped a $140 million debt payment https://t.co/n6rBLQLYnN Sportico (@Sportico) February 15, 2023
This missed payment could result in teams like LA, Anaheim, Arizona, Dallas, St. Louis, Minnesota, Detroit, Columbus, Nashville, Carolina, Tampa Bay, and Florida all losing their coverage, so they wont have any TV deals!
All these teams were being covered by Bally Sports networks. This could have a huge impact on financials in the NHL.
