BREAKING: Guy Boucher Joins New NHL Team
Guy Boucher, the former head coach of the Ottawa Senators and Tampa Bay Lightning, is back behind an NHL bench. Joining him is former player and assistant coach Mike Van Ryn.
Toronto Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced that both Boucher and Van Ryn have been hired as assistant coaches for bench boss Sheldon Keefe. Keefe is very pleased by the announcement.
"One of my goals every offseason is to put together the best staff possible to help give us the greatest opportunity for team success. With Spencer Carbery's departure to become the head coach of the Washington Capitals, I'm thrilled to add experienced and accomplished coaches like Guy and Mike, as well as how the roles and responsibilities will now be shared amongst our coaching staff moving forward." - Sheldon Keefe
Experience
Boucher served as head coach of the Lightning from 2010 to 2013, and Ottawa from 2016 to 2019. His head coaching record in the NHL is 191-186-46. He also spent time as a head coach in the Swiss National League for Bern SC. Van Ryn has spent the last five seasons as an assistant coach with the St. Louis Blues. The former first-round pick played 383 games in the NHL, including 27 with Toronto in 2008-09.
