BREAKING: Kyle Dubas Officially Named GM For an Eastern Conference Team
Kyle Dubas appears to be returning to the NHL, per reports.
According to Pittsburgh reporter Mark Madden, Dubas is reportedly nearing a deal with the Penguins as their next General Manager.
The Penguins fired GM Ron Hextall after this season, having missed the playoffs, and are reportedly seeking Dubas as his replacement.
Dubas was let go by the Toronto Maple Leafs after 5 seasons with the club, having made the playoffs in each year of his Leafs tenure.
Dubas, 37, will be tasked with taking over for an aging star core of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin & Kris Letang, and will have to rebuild the Penguins prospect pool, which has been weakened by trades and playoff success resulting in a lack of draft capital.
It hasn't been confirmed of a finished deal, or if Dubas is for sure headed to Pittsburgh, but it will be a massive addition for a team looking for one last chance at the cup.
