The NHL schedule is usually pretty set in stone, but they always leave a little bit of lee-way incase of emergencies. Currently they are paying close attention to the situation in Buffalo as the city is bracing themselves for one of the worst snowfalls they've had in years.

Saturday night the Sabres are supposed to be in Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs, which could end up being an issue as the team is still currently in Buffalo and could gets snowed in.

The city of Buffalo is expecting to receive over six feet of snow in a short 24 hour period.

Other sports teams in the city are already making arrangements for their games as the Buffalo Bills and NFL decided to move their game this Sunday from Buffalo and will not play in Detroit against the Cleveland Browns.

NHL Insider David Alter had the following information to share regarding the possible rescheduled Sabres/Leafs game:

As of last night, #Leafs said they weren't made aware of any changes/contingencies if the #Sabres can't make it. Their plans are the same. It's obviously in Buffalo's court to make it here.

Buffalo has declared a state of emergency as the storm begins to start.

Here are a few photos of how much snow has already fallen in the city of Buffalo:
