BREAKING: Number One Free Agent On The Market Signs With Washington
There have been reports that have surfaced revealing that the Washington Capitals have landed the number one free agent on the market.
Washington Capitals Land Defenseman Bear
Insider Chris Johnston has reported on TSN's Insider Trading that the Washington Capitals and defenseman Ethan Bear will be reaching a contract agreement in the coming days that will have Bear play in Washington for two years.
«The final details and some of the logistics are still being ironed out. But it does appear that Ethan Bear will join the Washington Capitals. And they emerge among a group of teams that included his former team the Vancouver Canucks. I think the Toronto Maple Leafs at least inquired there too. And some others, but the Capitals offered him a two-year contract. And it looks like that two-year deal will come in in the neighborhood of $2 million once it's completed. Bear, of course, is coming off shoulder surgery in the offseason - an injury suffered last year at the World Hockey Championship while playing for Team Canada. And the opportunity to play somewhere like Washington, a little bit of security, ultimately, is going to be what takes him to D.C.» - Chris Johnston
Bear has missed the start of the season as he has been recovering from an injury he sustained in the IIHF World Championships.
Last year Bear played in 61 games for the Vancouver Canucks scoring 3 goals and 13 assists for 16 total points. He also averaged 18:31 a night proving to be an effective bottom pairing defenseman that could play bigger minutes if need be on any given night.
We now await the Capitals' official announcement but it should be coming in the near future.
