Going into this offseason the Pittsburgh Penguins and their fans knew that one of the key 3 players of the Penguins, being Crosby, Malkin and Letang wouldn't be in a Penguins uniform next season as Malkin and Letang were both free agents and the Penguins couldn't afford to sign both to the contracts they were looking for.
It was rumoured that the Penguins offered both players 3 years deals worth $15 million, but both turned it down as if it was a slap to the face.
So with Malkin most likely hitting free agency, the Penguins were working on a deal with Kris Letang who put up 10 goals and 68 points in 78 games last season.
Penguins fans should be happy to know that the Penguins have agreed to a six-year $36.6 million contract, with an AAV of $6.1 million per season. At the end of this contract Letang will be 41 years old.
WIll he still be worth the $6.1 million?
