Steve Yzerman has been the General Manager of the Detroit Red Wings since April 19, 2019, and since his time there we have seen him draft some major players for the organization lie Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond who were both Calder finalists last year, with Seider taking home the prize.

Yzerman and the Wings were very active yesterday and in the offseason so far, bringing in; Andrew Copp, David Perron, Dominik Kubalik, Ben Chiarot, Olli Maatta, and goaltender Ville Husso.

With these additions to the ranks of Larkin, Vrana, Bertuzzi, Raymond, Zadina, Seider, Hronek the Red Wings are looking to make a major step in the right direction next season.

One thing that has been on people's minds though is what is going to happen with captain Dylan Larkin? The 25 year old is on the final season of a contract that has a $6,100,000 cap hit and that is definitely going to go up after scoring 31 goals and 69 points in 71 games this past season.

According to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, contract talks with Larkin are well underway and looking good:

Detroit is not willing to do long term deals unless they think of that player as a building block.

The Wings are now built to make a splash next season and will be a team good for a long time, and we still haven't seen first round picks Sebastian Cossa, Simon Edvinsson and this years pick Marco Kasper yet.

Great things coming for Detroit!
