The Americans have suspended their defenseman Nicolas Savoie with the intention of terminating his contract.

This came after the player requested to go back to school.

Ben Steiner reported that there's a deal in place with the University of New Brunswick for the 2024-25 season. Savoie will likely sit out on the rest of the current season.

"Hearing that the UNB Reds have a commitment in place to add defenceman Nicolas Savoie for next season.

He played 21 ECHL games this season, and had a four game callup for the AHL's Rochester Americans." Steiner said.

Savoie notably won the Memorial Cup in 2023 with the Quebec Remparts.
