BREAKING: Veteran NHL Defenseman Set To Announce Retirement
A 700-game veteran defenseman is ready to retire after a 13-year NHL career.
Demers Set To Retire
Jason Demers was known as a reliable middle-pairing defenseman who could hold his own defensively. However, he has been on a downward trajectory over the past few years and is ready to retire.
On the SJHN podcast, Demers said the following:
"pretty much" retired from professional hockey «95%. I'm right on the edge of retirement, if not retired.» - Jason Demers
Demers was originally drafted in the 7th round by the Sharks back in 2008 and spent the start of his career in San Jose. He also played for the Stars, Panthers, Coyotes, and finally the Oilers in 2022-23.
Spending most of the last year with the Oilers affiliate, Demers is looking to transition into a TV analyst for NHL Network and NBC Sharks.
We are expecting an official announcement from Demers in the coming weeks on his future.
