During last night's game between the Blackhawks and Senators game, defenseman Connor Murphy took a brutal hit from behind from Senators' Parker Kelly. The hit immediately left Murphy unconscious on the ice for several minutes.
This was a very scary sight as a stretcher was brought out to move Murphy who appeared motionless. Murphy did provide a signal, by issuing a thumbs up to tell people he was okay.
During the Hockey Night in Canada broadcast it was shared that Murphy hadn't been transported to local hospital and had been treated in the arena. The Blackhawks provided even more good news as they shared Murphy was cleared to travel with the team back to Chicago.
Jonathan Toews also shared this with Blackhawks reporter Ben Pope
It's hard not to be rattled. For a second, your focus is to get away from the game. It's hard to regroup and care about the game when...you really don't know if he's okay.
But I've heard he's okay since.
Hopefully for Murphy's sake he makes a full recovery and the last impact isn't too severe.
