Breaking: Jets to Buy Out Star Forward
In the last few minutes, the Winnipeg Jets have made a major announcement.
Wheeler on Waivers
The Jets will put Blake Wheeler on waivers today, with the intention to buy out his contract.
Darren Dreger reported the news:
"The Winnipeg Jets are processing Blake Wheelers buyout. He will be on waivers today. There will be a number of teams with interest in signing the veteran as a free agent, including the Dallas Stars."
As you can see, he also mentionned that the Dallas Stars are among the team interested in Wheeler.
He could clear the waivers, but the strategic move for any interested teams would be to wait for the Jets to buy him out and then sign him to a cheaper contract.
