Breaking: Major Suspension for Philadelphia Flyer
The Philadelphia Flyers are in the spotlight once again because of one of their Russian prospects.
Fedotov Suspended
The 188th overall pick in the 2015 draft, Ivan Fedotov, has been suspended from playing international games for four months, starting September 1st.
Fedotov signed contracts with both the NHL and the KHL for the 2023-24 season, with the Philadelphia Flyers and CSKA Moskva.
The IIHF gave Fedotov two weeks to choose between them, but he didn't.

"The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has ruled that G Ivan Fedotov has a valid NHL contract with #Flyers for the 23-24 season. The IIHF determined that Fedotov broke a rule of the IIHF International Transfer Regulations when he signed a contract with CSKA Moskva (KHL) for the 23-24 season.
The IIHF Regulations state that Fedotov was given two weeks to go back to PHI, or obtain a release from PHI. Fedotov did not do either in that time span, and he has now been given a four month suspension on playing in official national/international games, starting on September 1st.
CSKA Moskva has also been banned for a year from completing international transfers.
It is unclear if Fedotov will report to the Flyers for the 23-24 season, or if he will report to CSKA on a loan from the Flyers. PHI originally signed Fedotov to a one-year ELC prior to the 22-23 season, but it was moved to beginning in 23-24, due to Fedotov being required to complete military service in Russia."
We don't know yet where he'll end up playing next season, but we hope to see him in the NHL soon!
