Canadian Franchise Openly Disses Former Star Defenseman
It is tradition in the NHL for teams to honor their former players when they make their first visit as an opposing player by giving them a highlight reel video tribute to them on the jumbotron. Last night, the Canucks chose not to honor this tradition when one former star defenseman returned for the first time as a visiting player.
Canucks Choose Not To Honor Ekman-Larsson With Video Tribute
Defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson visited Vancouver for the first time as a member of the Florida Panthers organization last night. While many fans might have expected the team to honor him with the traditional video tribute, none came.
They actually didn't give OEL a tribute video lol
That's actually a tough scene
Ekman-Larsson Proving Canucks Wrong This season
Ekman-Larsson was famously bought out by the Canucks last offseason. Now the star defenseman is enjoying his revenge tour as he is second among NHL defenseman in goal scoring this year, only behind Vancouver's Quinn Hughes.
Apparently, there are no hard feelings between Ekman-Larsson and the Canucks although one must wonder if the lack of tribute video bothered him at all.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson is back in Vancouver tonight for the first time since he was part of the largest buyout in NHL history.
He had nothing bad to say about the #Canucks
Ekman-Larsson and the Panthers will continue their road trip through western Canada tomorrow when they take on the Oilers in Edmonton.
