Canadiens GM Reveals Which Player Will Be Traded Next
The Canadiens GM has revealed who they are intending on moving out next in a recent press conference.
Hughes Trades Petry
Yesterday, Kent Hughes proved himself as a player's GM by trading Jeff Petry.
The Canadiens have acquired defenseman Gustav Lindström and a conditional 4th-round pick in 2025 in exchange for defenseman Jeff Petry.
While many speculated that Hughes could have gotten a larger return for Petry if waited till the trade deadline to move him, Hughes did right by Petry by trading him to his hometown team.
Keeping with the trend of being a player's GM, Hughes revealed who he plans on moving next.
Hughes Reveals Next Trade
Canadiens reporter Renaud Lavoie recently revealed what Kent Hughes said in a press conference.
Translated Tweet
Kent Hughes told Casey DeSmith to be patient. He could be traded or he could make a transaction to allow him to play MTL. A file that will therefore evolve between now and the start of the season. DeSmith was also a part of the trade that brought Petry to Montreal and he does not seem over the moon about this.
With Sam Montembeault and Jake Allen currently, as the Canadiens 1-2, it seems like there is no space for DeSmith. This likely means DeSmith will be moved out unless there is a situation that allows him to get significant playing time.
