The Capitals' struggles this season are no secret, with some of their top performers failing to live up to their expectations. Now, with make-or-break time rapidly approaching, a move needs to be made if they hope to make the playoffs.
Capitals Pursuing Russian Winger
According to Elliotte Friedman, the Washington Capitals have strong interest in the Vancouver Canucks' winger Andrei Kuzmenko.
Kuzmenko, a Russian native, broke out into the NHL last year after building quite the name for himself in the KHL.
Russian Connection
It's no secret that Washington likes their Russians, and the Capitals would have quite the case to bring Kuzmenko in, seeing as he'd play a major role in their push to make the playoffs.
The biggest issue is Kuzmenko's partial no-trade clause, as it's unknown whether or not Washington is on that list. With Russian superstars such as Alex Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and youngster Ivan Miroschnichenko on the way, the Capitals shouldn't have a very hard time convincing Kuzmenko to waive his NTC if they are indeed on that list.
Could Kuzmenko be the answer to Washington's problems?
