McAvoy Fires a Shot Towards Gary Bettman
In an unexpected turn of events Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy has released a statement about the appeal.
«I appreciated Mr Bettman & team taking the time. Thought we made some really good points. We brought comparables to the table. I just want to get back on the ice & play hockey» McAvoy pushed for a 1-game reduction
McAvoy bringing up comparables to the table shows his determination to get back to playing and reduce his suspension.
McAvoy's Suspension Hit In Question
McAvoy received the four game suspension for his hit to the head of Florida's Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
McAvoy comes flying across the ice after the puck has left and hits Ekman-Larsson high. McAvoy received a match penalty for the hit.
For many years now the NHL has been trying to remove hits like this from the league, in order to send a message a lengthy suspension was necessary to hopefully persuade the players to avoid throwing these types of hits.
