Following their inter-squad scrimmage game, reports emerged that Connor Bedard was visibly upset about the game's outcome.
It's customary for teams to conduct inter-squad scrimmage games during training camp to assess players and experiment with different line combinations before the season commences.
Typically, the results of these games carry minimal significance. However, this was not the case for Connor Bedard. During Sunday's practice, Bedard's team suffered a loss in the scrimmage, and he displayed his dissatisfaction with the outcome.
His teammates shared some observations about his unwavering competitive spirit:
"Connor was extremely upset he lost today, which I love. I was looking at him; he's kind of pouting over there."
-Nick Foligno on Connor Bedard after today's scrimmage, which Bedard's Team Red lost 6-3. "He wants to be the best player on the ice," noted teammate Taylor Hall. "He aspires to be mentioned in the same category as (Sidney) Crosby. From what I've seen in the first few days of camp, he certainly has the game to back it up." Bedard's Competitive Drive and Strong Work Ethic Set the Stage for Success
The most accomplished players reach the pinnacle of their sport due to an insatiable desire to excel and win every battle on the ice. For them, each game is an opportunity for improvement and triumph.
Connor Bedard is no exception to this mindset, and it bodes well for his future success. Not only does he possess an unrelenting competitive spirit, but he also pairs it with a robust work ethic-a combination poised for achievement.
