Connor McDavid Fires Shot At Rival Coach After Embarrassing Loss
The Edmonton Oilers have opened their season with back-to-back losses versus the Vancouver Canucks and Connor McDavid has started to speak out against the Canucks coach.
McDavid Speaks On Tocchet
In an embarrassing 8-1 loss to the Canucks on opening night, the Oilers lost control of the game and their star players, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl could not get anything going.
Following the game, McDavid spoke against Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet and some of his questionable moves.
«They made a few decisions in the third period that I thought were interesting,» said McDavid. «Anytime they roll out the first power-play unit, it's not ideal, not a situation we wanna be in, and obviously we don't like that.»
He also mentioned how the Canucks put in their backup goalie with just 10 minutes to go.
«Throwing the backup goalie in with 10 minutes left, I have not seen that,» added McDavid. «It's not like DeSmith is an [emergency backup goalie] or anything like that, so I thought that was interesting.»
It was later revealed that Tocchet pulled Demko because he was suffering from the Flu and needed to get off the ice.
It was clear McDavid was peeved after this 7 goal loss. To make matters worse, the Oilers then lost to the Canucks a second time but this time by only one goal.
McDavid and the Oilers were prepping for the season before any other team so to see them start this poorly is rather alarming. Hopefully, they can turn things around before the season goes down the drain before they even know it.
