The Cutter Gauthier drama is something that no one in the NHL expected this season, but now, we are continuing to see the fallout from a dramatic Monday night trade.

Cutter refuses to play for Philadelphia and gets traded

On Monday, the NHL world was shocked when Cutter Gauthier, the 2022 No. 5 overall pick was traded by Philadelphia to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Jamie Drysdale and a future second-round draft pick.

It was then revealed that Gauthier refused to meet with the Flyers in Sweden at the recent World Juniors tournament, with the revelation that he refused to play for Philadelphia leading to the shock trade.

Gauthier's feelings on Philadelphia seemingly revealed

While everyone in the NHL world and Philadelphia reacted, Gauthier has mainly stayed silent, but now, it has come out that he liked a video of Sean Avery saying this about the Flyers and Philadelphia.

"Why would Cutter Gauthier want to play for the Philadelphia Flyers?

Maybe Cutter Gauthier just doesn't like Daniel Briere's son, because he threw the wheelchair of a disabled girl down a flight of stairs.

Maybe he doesn't like John Tortorella, for a multitude of reasons." - Sean Avery

Whether or not you agree with what Avery has said, this situation has happened before (except one major time, Philadelphia benefitted), and if at 19-years old he doesn't want to play for a team, there's no way to force him.

No matter your feelings on this situation, the reaction to a young kid not wanting to play in Philadelphia has certainly been overblown, but it's safe to say that this isn't the last we've heard of it.
