Dallas Stars Center-Piece To Join Military
The Dallas Stars have one of the best young cores in all of the NHL. Including players like Jake Oettinger and Jason Robertson. One of their young players however will be joining the military next offseason.
Hintz To Complete Mandatory Military Service
Finnish star Roope Hintz has confirmed that he will be serving in the military next off-season. After being asked to serve his mandatory time in the Finnish military this offseason Hintz was able to defer until 2024.
I haven't joined the army yet. It's still ahead. Next summer I will probably join the army.
Hintz Not The Only Finnish Star To Serve In The Military
This offseason we saw another star go through with their military service but in a different sport. Lauri Markkanen of the Utah Jazz in the NBA was faced with a similar dilemma and served his military time during the 2023 off-season.
How Will This Affect Hintz And The Stars?
This shouldn't affect Hintz or the Stars all that much. Hintz should still be allowed to train for the NHL season and will be returned before the 2024-25 season would begin. This will come as a relief to Stars fans as he is a core piece of the team and had a career year in 2022-23 with 75 points in 73 games.
