ECHL Player Faces Indefinite Ban After Hitting a Referee
A major incident occurred Friday night in an ECHL game.
Player Suspended Indefinitely After Altercation with Referee in ECHL Game
Zach Walker, a player for the Adirondack Thunder, was involved in an incident with a referee during a game against the Newfoundland Growlers.
On his way to the penalty box, Walker apparently hit a referee.
Walker was removed from the game and the ECHL decided to suspend him indefinitely while they reach a verdict on the incident.
"Zach Walker of Adirondack has been suspended indefinitely pending a review, due to his actions in Friday's game vs. Newfoundland.
Walker will miss games tonight and tomorrow, and any further discipline will be announced next week."
If he's found guilty, Walker could be suspended for 20 games for breaking rule 40.2.
