This morning Dreger tweeted out the following information:
"As Evander Kane awaits word from the NHL on further suspension or not, the Oilers interest in the power forward remains strong. Sources say Kane met with GM Ken Holland and head coach Dave Tippett earlier this week to discuss his fit on the team. Oilers, one of two teams in mix."
With Holland and Tippett both meeting with Kane it sounds like an opportunity for the polarizing forward to find out where he'd fit into the Oilers' lineup. With any contract Kane signs being for 1-year it sounds like he'd appreciate some assurances of where he'd play in the lineup. An opportunity to play next to either Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl would likely interest Kane long-term as a way to rehabilitate both his image and statistics.
However, the Oilers are not the only team interested in Kane as insider, Elliotte Friedman reported over the weekend that the Washington Capitals had also discussed a potential contract with Evander Kane.
Darren Dreger also reported that the NHL decision on Kane's future is likely to slip into tomorrow before we hear about the forward's fate.
It does seem at this juncture though that if the NHL had found anything tangible they'd have already made the announcement to suspend Kane.
