The Hockey Hall of Fame has announced the inductees of the Class of 2023, and some notable exclusions have fans outraged. With these exclusions piling up year after year, many have begun to wonder how the NHL can possibly justify its electoral process.

Mogilny Snubbed Once Again

Alexander Mogilny enjoyed an illustrious, 17-year NHL career in which he surpassed 1,000 points in under 1,000 games played. He was the first ever NHL player to defect from the Soviet Union in order to play in the NHL and paved the way for fellow Russians to follow suit.

By all accounts, he had a Hall of Fame-worthy career, yet the Hockey Hall of Fame (HHoF) refused to vote him in year after year. His exclusion has begun to get quite ridiculous, and fans were outraged on social media.

Mogilny Isn't Alone

Other notable omissions from the HHoF Class of 2023 include Patrick Elias and current Carolina Hurricanes coach and former captain Rod Brind'Amour. A quick glance at each of these players' careers would tell you basically all you need to know in order to determine their worthiness of a HHoF induction.

How the HHoF electors continue to omit these stellar players, trailblazers, and hockey heroes is beyond comprehension. The HHoF should be ashamed of this embarrassing display, and Mogilny should be a lock for the 2024 class.
