Since being acquired in a trade on June 15th back in 2017 which sent star defensive prospect Mikhail Sergachev and a 2nd round pick to the Tampa Bay Lightning, Jonathan Drouin has failed to live up to the expectations of Montreal Canadiens fans and it has taken a serious toll on his mental health.
After leaving the team for personal reasons last year and missing the entire playoff run, Drouin came back this season with even higher expectations.
Now to add to the upsetting news, Drouin is scheduled to have surgery on his wrist and will miss the remainder of this season. The media and fans have not taken this news well, and have expressed it over social media.
Former Montreal Canadiens Chris Nilan was recorded taking shots at Drouin.
