This offseason we are officially seeing what the Ottawa Senators General Manager Pierre Dorion is capable of. A team that has refused to spend money for so long has officially been unleashed and Dorion is pulling off some magical moves.
First it started when he stole a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks to bring in two-time 40 goal scorer Alex Debrincat, and on the opening day of Free Agency he signed long time NHL veteran Claude Giroux to a three year deal.
But now the question begs, how good are the Ottawa Senators going to be this season? A former NHLer thinks that the Senators are now the best team in Ontario and has a better chance at the stanley cup.
Matthew Barnaby who is a veteran of 834 games where he wracked up 2562 penalty minutes, had this to say:
No team has made better strides than the Senators Will contend for playoffs and Giroux will help group grow!! Sens will win CUP before Leafs
This is a very bold statement by Barnaby, especially considering the Senators finished 42 points behind the Maple Leafs last season. But with the new additions and another year of development for the Senators young players, we just might see them pass the Toronto Maple Leafs!
