Former Standout Leafs Player Expresses Interest in Returning to the Leafs.
The 2012 trade would be unanimously seen as a victory for the Maple Leafs if they successfully manage to secure both Luke Schenn and James Van Riemsdyk on their team. Schenn's return to Toronto was confirmed back in March and recent hints indicate that JVR may be next in line.
James Van Riemsdyk: A Potential Comeback to Toronto
During a candid chat on The Leafs Nation podcast, JVR, a former Leafs winger with a six-season stint under his belt, opened up about the potential of a reunion. When asked about a possible return this summer, his response was:
We'll see what happens, ultimately you wanna be in a place where you're wanted. Speaking out of experience of being there last time, it was amazing, unbelievable, and something I'll always cherish. Going off of that, that was all great... most importantly you want to be a good fit with the organization and the coaching staff and how you fit in with all that stuff.
The rest can be seen in the tweet below:
Although JVR's performance has seen a decline since his initial time in Toronto, he could offer a low-cost scoring option for the bottom-six.
JVR's Affinity for Toronto
JVR obviously looks back very fondly on his time in Toronto, so it would make sense that he would be eager to return.
