The NHL has not been without controversies in recent years. Now another one has emerged as Gary Bettman has seemingly tried to draw attention away from one of the biggest stories in hockey.

Bettman Announces Date For Stadium Jersey Sale

The Philadelphia Flyers and New Jersey Devils are set to play a stadium series game on Saturday, February 17th. The Rangers and Red Wings will play the day after. Jerseys for all teams will go on sale on the 5th. Notably, this is the same date London Police are set to hold a press conference regarding the investigation into Canada's 2018 World Junior Championships team.

The NHL has chosen the date of Feb. 5 to be able to purchase the #LetsGoFlyers & #NJDevils Stadium Series jerseys.

Feb. 5 is also the date of the London P.D. press conference, relating to the Hockey Canada investigation.

Fans Point Out Questionable Decision From Gary Bettman

Fans quickly pointed out that the date is questionable at best. It seems to many that the decision was made in an effort to draw attention away from London PDs press conference.

Wouldn't want to speculate, but out of all possible dates? At best it's a completely tone deaf decision

The League had attempted to draw attention to the event by promoting the jerseys on social media.

However, this latest controversy will likely take over headlines as the NHL continues to mishandle these key moments. Hopefully the investigation will create some closure everyone involved and those that are found guilty will be held accountable.
