Max Pacioretty has had a truly nightmarish season. The former captain of the Montreal Canadiens found himself in Carolina, and suffered two achilles tears.

His future is all but certain, which was confirmed by Carolina Huriccanes GM Don Waddell.

Pacioretty May Not Be Ready for the Beginning of the Season

Max Pacioretty's best days in the NHL are already over, which was proven by him becoming a cap-dump by the Vegas Golden Knights.

While Pacioretty was able to briefly return for the Canes, another serious achilles injury sidelined him once again. Unfortunately, this may be more serious than expected.

When asked about potentially re-signing Pacioretty, Waddell got brutally honest.

"As far as Pacioretty goes, obviously he's been through a lot and we don't know what the future is going to hold there I don't even know when he'll be able to play. The expectations and all that."

"He's still going through a lot of his therapy and treatment and all that. We have to make sure that we don't get caught counting on something that's potentially not there. We'll see how the summer plays out with him."

While healthy he's a great piece, but that type of security isn't assured with a player like Max Pacioretty.
