Ilya Samsonov Snaps at Reporter in a Tense Interview
Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Ilya Samsonov wasn't beating around the bush last night following his team's game 2 loss to the Florida Panthers. Samsonov was asked about the impressive play of fellow netminder Sergei Bobrovsky, who has been excellent for the Panthers in this series. Samsonov was in no mood.
"I don't give a f--k," said Samsonov.
Asked why not, Samsonov said he simply doesn't care about Bobrovsky or how he's playing.
"It doesn't matter for me," Samsonov said with shrug. "I'm doing my work, he's doing his work."
The fact that Bobrovsky is playing so well is likely surprising for a lot of people, even fans of the Florida Panthers. He's never really lived up to expectations since signing a massive seven year, $70 million contract with Florida in 2019. He's seems to be coming up big when it matter most, though. The Panthers currently lead the series 2-0, with game 3 taking place in Florida Sunday.
