J.T. Miller is currently on a very team friendly contract that has a cap hit of $5.25 million and is in the second last year of this contract. So a team acquiring the services of Miller are getting him for more than just a potential rental. As reported by Frank Seravalli, the teams interested in Miller are the Boston Bruins, Calgary Flames, Minnesota Wild and interestingly enough the team that drafted Miller, the New York Rangers, who traded him to the Tampa Bay Lightning, in a blockbuster one sided trade.
"Traded from New York Rangers with Ryan McDonagh to Tampa Bay Lightning for Vladislav Namestnikov, Brett Howden, Libor Hajek, round 1 pick in the 2018 draft (Nils Lundkvist) and conditional round 2 pick in the 2019 draft (Karl Henriksson)" - per hockeydb.com
All 4 teams are currently in a playoff spot and having a very good season:
NY Rangers: 2nd in Metro
Boston Bruins: 4th in Atlantic (wildcard)
Calgary Flames: 4th in Pacific (wildcard)
Minnesota Wild: 3rd in Central
All of which could benefit from the services of J.T. Miller, but who do you think will get the upper edge trade wise? Of all these teams, the Rangers have the biggest basket of prospects that may intrigue the Canucks who look like they're about to begin around rebuild.
