Insider Reveals The Details Behind A Massive Blockbuster Last Year
When the Canucks traded for Filip Hronek last year, many fans thought the move was quite bizarre as Vancouver was well out of the playoff picture and already has Quinn Hughes to run their top powerplay unit. Now we have new details that might make the move make a little more sense.
Seravalli Reveals New Details In Hronek Trade
NHL insider Frank Seravalli revealed that the Canucks were asking about Hronek before the Wings decided to start shopping him. Later in the season, Steve Yzerman called back telling the Canucks he's available and if they accept his offer, they wouldn't tell any other teams his available. Apparently those terms were good enough for Vancouver, who picked him up immediately.
Seravalli told the backstory of the Hronek trade.
Canucks called about Hronek before but Wings said we aren't trading him.
Wings then called Nucks and said are you still interested?
Stevie Y said this is what I want. Say "yes" now and we won't advertise him to anyone else.
Seravalli shared this news with us on the Sekeres and Price podcast.
The Yzerplan continues to confuse fans as the Red Wings made a series of odd moves this offseason, but so far it has been working out for them. Vancouver is off to a decent start as well so perhaps this trade will work out for both teams.
