A new article by TVA Sports has suggested that the Anaheim Ducks are more open to trading John Gibson than they were before.
The Ducks were expected to take a step forward and be a fringe playoff team this season. However, due to struggling players like Trevor Zegras the Ducks continue to be a bottom feeder.
With Gibson entering his 30s reports are indicating the Ducks could want to move on. Luckily for them, two teams are very interested.
A new set of reports has confirmed that two contending teams in the Eastern Conference have re-engaged with the Ducks in Gibson talks.
The first team mentioned is the New Jersey Devils. The Ducks come to New Jersey in the coming weeks and as a result, Devils GM has reached out to the Ducks.
With the teams being in close proximity for their matchup this could spark progress in negotiations.
The other team in consideration is the Detroit Red Wings. The Red Wings have been the pleasant surprise of the season finding themselves in a playoff spot.
Now without Dylan Larkin, the team will need to rely more on both their offense and defense. With their struggling goaltending they could be a good fit for Gibson.
While nothing is imminent it sounds as though a Gibson trade is closer than ever. Wherever Gibson lands he will be an immediate boost to the team and immensely improve their odds at contending.
