Never did we think that any of Gretzky's point or goal records could be touched, that is, until Alexander Ovechkin entered the scene. Ovechkin has been a goal scoring machine over his career and continues to produce at an elite pace even into his late 30's.
Jaromir Jagr stated the other day that he did not originally think Ovechkin was going to break the record, but he has changed his mind and now he definitely thinks he will:
Earlier, I thought Ovechkin didn't have any chance to break Gretzky's goal record. It was six years ago. But Alex has changed and became a better and more effective hockey player than when he was in his youth. I think he works harder now. He'll be able to break Gretzky's record if he can stay healthy and keep working as hard as now.
