Shane Wright has a massive increase in his development as well as his immediate future.
Wright Gets Granted Exeception
Last season Shane Wright played in three different leagues, the NHL, the AHL and the OHL. He only saw success in the OHL with the Windsor Spitfires where in 20 games Wright tallied 15 goals and 37 points, however they were bested in round one of the playoffs to the Kitchener Rangers.
This year however Shane Wright will not have to worry about being sent back to juniors as he was given a grant and will be either in the NHL or AHL this next season.
Shane Wright can officially play in the AHL this season
Kraken general manager Ron Francis said that he'll be granted an exemption to send Shane Wright to the American Hockey League in lieu of the junior ranks if he doesn't make the NHL squad
For those that do not know when a player gets sent back to juniors they are required to play 25 games before they can return back to the team. Shane Wright had 24 games played, making him just one game short of being able to return.
This is a massive boost to Wright as he will be facing better opponents ensuring he gets better development.
Although the Seattle Kraken has a very deep roster, Wright will still be pushing to make it on the team.
