The Toronto Maple Leafs have had an infusion of youth to their lineup this season. Players like Fraser Minten and Matthew Knies have shown that they have a bright future in hockey. However, one player has not had the expected success in recent years.
Nick Robertson has struggled to find his way in the NHL. Despite numerous opportunities, Robertson has failed to find true success at the NHL level.
The Maple Leafs are reportedly considering moving on from Robertson due to his struggles in a specific part of the game that makes successful professional athletes.
As noticed by fans Nick Robertson has struggled heavily to find consistency in the NHL. Whether due to injury, lack of playing time, or an inability to stand out when given a chance things are not going well for Robertson.
According to an article at The Athletic the Maple Leafs are considering moving on from Robertson because of this inconsistency.
While Robertson has struggled during his young pro career he is still just 22 years old. He shows great success at the AHL level and also has a brother who is an elite level talent in Jason Robertson. All of these factors combined could make Nick Robertson an attractive asset to another team.
The Maple Leafs have several different needs in their current NHL lineup. If Robertson's time in Toronto has truly run its course the team should use his value to bring in a player to help them win now. This also would give Robertson the fresh start he seems to desperately need. A win win for both parties.
