It was a tough season for the Habs and that hit some of the veterans and young players pretty hard. Habs veteran Jeff Petry had a rough season, after being on pace to set career highs the year before when for awhile he was even in the Norris conversation. After finishing with 42 points in 55 games the year prior, he dropped to a poor 27 points in 68 games this season.
With the Habs officially starting a rebuild, it was rumoured that Jeff Petry wanted out of Montreal, but we have now discovered it's not due to the rebuild.
Jeff Petry wants out of Montreal due to vaccine policies in place in Canada versus the United States. According to Canadiens General Manager Kent Hughes:
Hughes says Petry wanting out is not about Montreal, it's more about vaccination issues and family issues as well, they're expecting a 4th boy.
For example, could they get their mother-in-law in if she's not vaccinated? Hard for a Mom to care for 4 kids while he's on the road. NHL Watcher (@NHL_Watcher) July 4, 2022
