On Monday, Kolner Haie of the DEL have agreed to a contract with NHL veteran Andrej Sustr.
Sustr to Europe
The 6'7" Defenseman has officially left the NHL once again.
Sustr said this when asked about joining the DEL:
"In the past few years, I have repeatedly had discussions with the Cologne management and head coach Uwe Krupp, which is why a strong relationship has developed. Because of these conversations, the decision was easy for me and it feels right in my heart. My family and I are very happy to be part of the Kölner Haie. For me, the organization's reputation is one of the best in Europe and I can't wait to meet the team, live in the city of Cologne and above all play in front of such great fans,"
Sustr's North American Career
The Czechia native played 361 games in the NHL with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Anaheim Ducks collecting 69 total points.
Sustr has also played 130 games in the AHL with 36 points in that span as a member of the Iowa Wild, San Diego Gulls and the Syracuse Crunch.
This is second time in his career Sustr has left for Europe as he left for 2 years to go play in the KHL.
