Kadri was ranked the second best free agent available on the market when the Free Agent Frenzy began, but after Gaudreau signed his massive deal, Kadri is now at #1 and is still without a team.
Last week it was believed that the Calgary Flames were pushing hard to acquire Kadri but apparently that deal fell apart. There have also been rumours that the Colorado Avalanche are trying to trade Sam Girard to free up cap space to bring Kadri back to the Avalanche.
It appears now though that the Winnipeg Jets have entered the ring in the Kadri cage fight. The Jets are about to have an opening at center when they trade Pierre-Luc Dubois who told the team he has no interest in staying past next season. The Jets have already been discussing a trade with the Montreal Canadiens and will need a new star to fill the shoes of Dubois.
Kadri scored 28 goals and 59 assists in 71 games last season and continued his scoring pace into the playoffs helping the Avalanche to a stanley cup. He is going to cash in big this offseason after being on a team friendly deal for years. Now the only question is, who is going to be reaping the benefits of Nazem Kadri next season?
