Recent events in the hockey world have reminded us how dangerous the sport can be. Yesterday Norwegian hockey player Jonas Nyhus Myhre learned the hard way how dangerous it can be for himself. He suffered a scary skate cut during his last match.

Norwegian Hockey Player Latest To Suffer Skate-Related Injury

At the end of the day, skate-related injuries are not as uncommon as we would like to think. This latest cut is just one of several that we have seen already this year. Luckily, this one was just a flesh wound, as Jonas was cut in the chest but is expected to make a full recovery. Apparently, he never even felt the cut, at least at first, due to the adrenalin rush he was experiencing.

"I never saw the wound myself so I pulled up my jersey and asked some teammates if it was bleeding. They had a shock reaction and immediately called for a doctor."

The following post has been translated from Finnish.

A gruesome injury occurred in an ice hockey match in Norway. 19-year-old defenseman Jonas Nyhus Myhre got an opponent's skate on his chest. The blade had managed to cut through the shields and he was bleeding profusely. However, because of the adrenaline, he felt no pain at first

Jonas' injury required stiches not just to close the wound, but to put his pectoral muscle back together. Luckily, this injury should not prevent him from returning to hockey after he fully recovers. Unfortunately though, he will now miss the world junior championships. Norway qualified for the event for the first time since 2013 since they won division 1A last year.
