Insider Reveals Oilers Recently Tried To Complete Blockbuster Trade
On 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Edmonton Oilers are actively looking to make changes to their roster and that they were on the precipice of a huge move in goal, one that didn't involve Jack Campbell.
«I don't know what happened but I had people say to me, watch the Oilers in goal, they're up to something, and they weren't talking about Campbell."
While this trade failed to materialize, it does show that the Edmonton Oilers are in crisis mode trying to shake up their roster due to their extremely poor start to the season.
Something Is Likely To Change In Edmonton Whether its the Coach or a New Player
The Oilers are coming off a terrible stretch, losing their last game to the last-place San Jose Sharks, making it their 4th loss in a row and placing them in last in the NHL. Rumours have been swirling that head coach Jay Woodcroft will be the first to go, however, nothing has happened yet.
Further to this, I'd expect Woodcroft to be behind the bench for Saturday's game. All things will be evaluated after this road trip.
If the Oilers continue to slide down the standings, surely there will be a big change. This could come in the form of a trade as well. While many have speculated that McDavid would request a trade out of Edmonton, that is almost an impossibility.
Only time will tell how the Oilers will try and get themselves out of this mess.
