Apparently this firing did not sit well with Bruins superstar David Pastrnak. Pastrnak is in the final year of arguably one of the most team-friendly deals of all time, that he signed quite a few years ago before he turned into the superstar that he is now.
The Bruins this offseason managed to re-sign captain Patrice Bergeron, and bring back former Bruin David Krejci. It looks like they're loading up for one more run at the cup because entering a rebuild.
Which puts them in a difficult situation with Pastrnak. Pasta will be a UFA at the end of this season, and if they want to enter a rebuild after this year, they cannot afford to lose him for nothing, but the problem is, if they truly want to contend for a cup this season, they cannot trade him away either.
He has been rather quiet over the past few weeks, and apparently even quieter with his teammates, as it's been reported that he is not answering some of them. According to Boston Hockey Now Joe Haggerty, Pastrnak hasn't been heard from for awhile:
A smiling Jake DeBrusk said he hasn't heard from good buddy David Pastrnak in a bit: "I haven't heard from him in a while. I think he's icing me. I think he went to his Czech number." Pastrnak has not been around Warrior for B's captain's practices as of yet Joe Haggerty (@HackswithHaggs) September 13, 2022
After a late season surge, Pastrnak put up 40 goals last season, which is going to see him get a huge payday after this year, but will it be with the Bruins?
