Andrew Hammond was playing over in the KHL Traktor Chelyabinsk, and just over a month since signing his contract, he is already leaving.
The General Manager of Chelyabinsk Ivan Savin, had this to say:
REPORT
🇨🇦 goaltender Andrew Hammond will leave Traktor.
His contract will be terminated without payment of compensation. #Hambuglar #KHL Hockey News Hub (@HockeyNewsHub) October 19, 2022
Hammond played two games with the team, both of which were some pretty bad losses. After his two games, his goals against average was 4.33 and his save percentage was .851.
Last season Hammond played for three different NHL organizations, he started with the Wild, but only played in the AHL, where he went 6-2-3 with a .908 SV% and 2.44GAA.
He was then traded to the Montreal Canadiens, where he went 3-0 with a .920 SV% and 2.4GAA.
He finished the season with the New Jersey Devils where he went 1-5-1 with a poor .860 SV% and 4.66 GAA.
Hammond will always be remembered for his historic run with the Ottawa Senators that made the impossible happen. If a team is in need of goaltending depth this season, Hammond will not have a problem finding a place.
