For those of you who do not know, Friday night the Calgary Flames traded Matthew Tkachuk and a conditional fourth-round pick to the Florida Panthers for Jonathan Huberdeau, MacKenzie Weegar, prospect Cole Schwindt and a lottery-protected first-round pick in the 2025 NHL draft.

We've been hearing the reaction from fans, hockey analysts and insiders the last 24 hours but we haven't heard anything from the players involved in the trade (until today).

According to Hockey Insider David Dwork, Jonathan Huberdeau is not happy with this trade.

As the dust settles from the Panthers-Flames blockbuster, I'm told Jonathan Huberdeau isn't particularly happy with how everything played out. There were some early, informal extension talks, but Huby's camp was waiting for an offer that never came. The next call was the trade.

Huberdeau was on the final year of a deal that was extremely team friendly, and is believed to be upset that he didn't get a contract extension from the team he has been on since being drafted by them 3rd overall back in 2011. Huberdeau fought through the bad years of Florida and now that the team is finally a cup contending team, he got traded away. I think we can all understand how he feels. Especially after he led the team in points and outscored the player he was traded for.

But with Huberdeau on the final year of a deal that makes him a UFA at the end of it, there has been quite a bit of speculation that the Flames are just going to trade Huberdeau for additional assets.
