All over the hockey news today people have been talking about Matthew Tkachuk. After the Calgary Flames filed for Team arbitration with him, it basically meant the end of Tkachuk's time in Calgary as he would have been able to walk out the door in free agency as a UFA at the end of next season.
Today though, Tkachuk officially told the Calgary Flames that he would not be signing a contract with the Flames and requested a trade.
According to a source:
Matthew Tkachuk turned down an 8-year contract that would pay him $88,000,000. The deal would have had an annual value of $11,000,000 and along with the deal would have come the role of captain.
Tkachuk and his representatives turned down both items.
The Flames officially lost their 2 best players in less than a week. Something insane to think about as well, the Calgary Flames offered Matthew Tkachuk more than what they offered Johnny Gaudreau to remain with the team.
