The St. Louis Blues find themselves just five points behind the Nashville Perdators for the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference, but that isn't stopping them from being sellers ahead of the trade deadline.

Pavel Buchenevich on the move?

According to Eklund of Hockey Buzz, the Blues are looking to move veteran forward Pavel Buchenevich, and while they will always sell a pending UFA no matter the situation, he has one-year left on his deal, making this a surprise move for St. Louis.

The St Louis Blues have developed a bit of a reputation for never letting a player go to free agency unsigned...They will trade whether or not they are in the playoff race or even have locked up a playoff spot by the deadline.

Pavel Buchnevich is not a pending UFA...in fact, He still has one more year on his 5.8M contract. However, a source tells me there is some concern regarding his willingness to stay a Blue, and St Louis would love to get out front on this one...

He has plenty of suitors out there for sure....

An intriguing veteran at the trade deadline

Despite being in his eighth season at the NHL level, Buchenevich is still just 28 years of age, and with $5.8 million AAV left on his deal, he could be a very intriguing option for a contender.

In 40 games this season, he has tallied 32 points, putting him on pace to go over 60 once more following back-to-back seasons of 76 and 67 points, and with his veteran leadership and play on both ends of the ice, he could be a very valuable pickup at the trade deadline.
