The NHL has been growing tremendously over the past few decades in North America, but it's safe to say the game has improved just as much over in Europe.
KHL to break a massive record
While the NHL has seen several outdoor games that have drawn plenty of fans, their arena's consistently come in under the 20,000 capacity mark.
That's now changing in the KHL, as the new SKA Arena will host its first game on February 11th of this year, making it the biggest hockey arena in the world with a capacity of 21,500 fans.
A huge event for the KHL
That game will see SKA, the favoured team of Vladimir Putin, take on HC Sochi, in what should be one of the biggest events in the hockey world.
While the KHL may not get the biggest amount of coverage in North America, the game has been a haven for players for the longest time, and with events like this, it's clearly becoming a major entity of its own.
The NHL may have their Heritage and Winter Classic's, but the KHL now has the ability to fill a huge stadium on a regular basis, and that begins on February 11th in what should be a huge event.
