Brad Treliving, former Flames GM and current Leafs GM, might be interested in bringing a few of his old players with him to Toronto.
Eklund, the anonymous insider, reported:
First, we can probably all agree to remove Matthew Knies from the equation. It would be extremely surprising to see Treliving trade Knies, even for a big return. The rookie is ready to join the Leafs and make an impact in Toronto. The management has high hopes for him and he'll likely stay with the organization for a long time.
If Toronto makes a trade, it's likely going to involve Nylander, Liljegren, or prospects.
The obvious candidate for the blockbuster trade is Nylander. If the Leafs decide to put him on the trade block, several teams could be interested.
Can the Flames make the best offer?
It's been a year since they got Nazem Kadri and Jonathan Huberdeau. As we saw last season, it's not enough.
Adding offensive talent would be a strategic move, and Nylander would fit that role well.
The Flames would need to send a big return for him. A likely scenario involves Hanifin, as Toronto is looking to bolster its blue line.
Would you trade Nylander and Liljegren for Hanifin (50% retained) and some draft picks?
