Late in the third period with just over a minute to play, Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Filip Hallander collided with another player that sent him hard to the ice, landing on his head/neck.
Here is the play:
Really scary moment just now in the WBS game. Filip Hallander is upended in the corner and his head takes a lot of the impact. He's being stretchered off the ice. pic.twitter.com/498nrGNuHh Taylor Haase (@TaylorHaasePGH) January 7, 2023
Medical staff were quick to attend Hallander, and all the players sat and waited to see how their teammate and fellow hockey player was.
Hallander has been taken off the ice via stretcher.
There's still 1:12 left to play in this game, which officials are now discussing with coaches what the next steps are & if this game will resume. pic.twitter.com/MvG8a4CyrN Tony Androckitis* (@TonyAndrock) January 7, 2023
The game was called with time still remaining after this horrible incidient.
My thoughts are with Filip Hallander of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
After a collision in the corner he fell to ice. Trainers, doctors, and EMS were immediately on the scene. IMO, 100% the correct call by the AHL to end the game with 1:12 left to go in the 3rd. TJ Chillot 🎙🏒 (@tj_chillot) January 7, 2023
