Unfortunately for some players though their careers are cut short due to injuries.
Back in 2010, the Florida Panthers used their 99th overall pick on Joonas Donskoi. After not signing with the Panthers, he eventually signed with the San Jose Sharks in 2015 for a few seasons. In 2019, he signed with the Colorado Avalanche where he spent 2 seasons before getting claimed by the Seattle Kraken in the expansion draft. He got into 75 games in their first season, but has not been seen yet this season.
It has now been announced that Donskoi suffered his 7th concussion at the start of the offseason:
Donskoi tells he had his 7th concussion at the start of this season and that he still hasn't been able to practice because of the persistent symptoms. Has had vision problems, vertigo and headaches. #SeaKraken #HockeyTwitter https://t.co/9yPs77rRnM Tiia Honkamaa (@tiiahnkm_) January 28, 2023
Donskoi has developed into a very good middle 6 player and to see his career possibly end would be devastating. Let's hope he can make a full recovery and make his way back into the game, but health always comes first.
